Bent Hamer’s 1001 Grams received the most nominations (6) for the 31st Amanda film awards set to take place on August 15, 2015 in Haugesund.

Hamer’s drama comedy  has a chance to win Best Film, Director and Script among others. The second most nomination title with five entries (including Best Film) is last year’s best-selling Norwegian film Børning by Hallvard Bræin. The film was produced by Filmkameratene, also represented by the family film Operation Arctic, vying for Best Children’s Film and Best Visual Effects.

Another production company weighing heavily in the Amanda selection is Mer Film, producer of Ole Giæver’s Out of Nature, running in two categories (Film and Script), Gunnar Vikene’s Here is Harold, running in 4 categories (Director, Actor, Cinematography, Production Design) and Bobbie Peers’ Dirk Ohm-The Illusionist, nominated for Best Music.

Brothers in which director Aslaug Holm has filmed her own sons over a period of eight years, is competing for Best Documentary, Best Director and Best Editing. Other contenders for Best Documentary include Tonje Hessen Schei’s international hit Drone, and Ola Waager’s Pels.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond is associated to 13 nominations from five films: 1001 Grams, Brothers, Captain Sabertooth and the Treasure of Lama Rama, Beatles and Drone.

24 films (including 7 documentaries) released in Norwegian cinemas between July 1st 2014 and June 30, 2015, were eligible for the Amanda nominations. The Amanda awards are the preamble to the Norwegian International Film Festival. For the full list of Amanda nominations, check: www.filmfestivalen.no
