On Monday night, the high end Norwegian TV drama Acquitted (Frikjent) produced by Miso Film Norway had the biggest opening ever for a TV drama on TV2 with 660,000 viewers and 46.6% share in the 20-49 target group and 38.8% share in the 12+ age group.

The producer Breve Hovland told nordiskfilmogtvfond.com: “We are very pleased with the overall response. The reviews have been really good and Acquitted is buzzing on social media. We couldn’t ask for a better start”.

Jarle Nakken, TV2 Director of Programmes added: “Norwegian drama is important for TV2. Viewing numbers like these give us lots of inspiration and courage to continue giving viewers quality drama on TV2 in the coming years”.

The 10x60’ character-driven series written by Siv Rajendram Eliasssen and Anne-Bache-Wiig focuses on a businessman (Nicolai Cleve Broch -  pictured) who returns to his native town 20 years after being acquitted for the murder of his high school sweetheart, but the past has not been forgotten. Geir Henning Hopland (Lilyhammer) and Rune Denstad Langlo (North) share directing duties.

The series will air in Sweden on SVT’s best drama slot of the week, on Sunday April 26 at 21.00. World sales are handled by Fremantle Media International.
