After its successful run on TV2 Danmark where the series averaged 1.5 million viewers earlier this year, the Danish TV series Badehotellet (Seaside Resort) produced by SF Film Production for TV2 has clocked 780,000 average Swedish viewers on TV4 for a share of 25 %.

The six part TV series immediately scored with Swedish viewers when it first aired on TV4’s 20.00 slot on March 27, reaching nearly one million viewers and a share of 23.3% (29.6% in the core female 25-59 age group).

" Badehotellet worked great for our audience, even though it fell from first to last episode, it kept both viewers and critics engaged. It has a unique feel, with the beautiful ocean and the lovely little family hotel, not to mention a great cast. I think the series will inspire lots of Swedes to go for a seaside vacation in Denmark! ", said  Åsa Sjöberg, TV4 Director of Programmes.

In Norway Badehotellet premiered on May 5 on TV2 at 21.40. The series reached a satisfying share of 27% for an average viewing of 388,000.

In comparison, the other successful Danish TV drama Arvingerne (The Legacy) produced by DR fared much better in Norway than Badehotellet with 639,000 average viewers on NRK1 (734,00 average viewing across all NRK platforms) when it aired between February and April 2014. But in neighbouring Sweden the Danish family saga didn’t draw the same crowd as Badehotellet (700,000 average viewings against 780,000 respectively) when it aired on SVT1’s Monday 21.00 slot from April 7-June 9.

The television audience in Sweden achieved by both Danish TV dramas supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond is highly satisfactory for non-crime original scripted programmes.
