Timo Vuorensola’s Iron Sky The Coming Race, the independent sequel to the 2010 sci-fi spoof Iron Sky has received the largest grant from the Finnish Film Foundation (€900,000) in the film organization’s latest round of production support.

Set 20 years after the first film, Iron Sky-The Coming Race takes the main characters/actors from the original title -Julia Dietze, Stephanie Paul and Udo Kier- into Hollow Earth filled with dinosaurs and aliens. US writer Dalan Musson is attached to the script and Germany’s Pixomondo (Games of Thrones) is handling visual effects. Tero Kaukomaa is producing for Iron Sky Universe, in co-production with Germany’s 27 Films Production. Filming is set to start in the autumn. 

Other projects that received funding include Taneli Mustonen’s chiller Bodom produced by Don Films, Aleksi Mäkelä’s Love Records featuring the landmark eponymous music label, produced by Fisher King Production, Juho Kuosmanen’s The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki produced by Elokuvayhtiö Aamu, Alli Haapasalo’s Autumn Prince produced by Solar Films, and the witch craft drama set in 1666 Tacit Wisdom directed by Saara Cantell for Periferia Productions.

The Finnish Film Foundation also supported the Swedish film Lucky by Mia Engberg, fictional sequel of her documentary Belleville Baby. The project is minority co-produced by Helsinki-filmi.
