According to SBS Discovery, Family Guy’s comedy writers Aaron Matthew Lee and Julius Sharpe will work on the US version, together with Bryan Furst and Sean Furst.
Lilyhammer conceptual director Simen Alsvik is the creator of the Norwegian show Next Summer, together with Lars Gudmestad (Headhunters) and Lilyhammer actor Trond Fausa Aurvåg plays one of the main roles.
The series focuses on the dream summer holiday and the small obstacles between the dream and reality that lends itself to comical situations. “We thought that maybe this thing we have with the cabin [hytte] is so Norwegian that it would not come across in the US. But clearly the idea of surviving the summer holidays with the family is also a recognisable theme worldwide,” said Alsvik.
The original 10x23’ show premiered on TVNorge last spring and had one of the best audiences for the TV station with an average viewing of 442,000. Season 2 directed again by Simen Alsvik will air in 2015.
