Sigve Endresen Motlys Film, Norway
“For me the biggest impact from Nordisk Film & TV Fond has been the opportunity to work with Nordic colleagues, in both documentaries and features, and to be inspired by their feedback and creativity.”

Christian Fredrik Martin, Friland Film, Norway
"Nordisk Film & TV Fond has been of utmost importance for Friland Film. Not only has the Fund been involved in all our feature film productions since the very start of the company, but the Fund’s very competent staff has also been a great source of know-how and inspiration expanding Friland Film´s business over the years. We have even been fortunate to have some of our films successful enough to bring revenues back to the Fund, something that makes us extremely proud.”

Ilkka Matila , MRP Matila Röhr Productions, Finland
“Nordisk Film & TV Fond has played a vital role in improving the quality of our films. The way its support is structured encourages us to team-up with other Nordic partners and to target the Nordic and international markets with our films. As distributor with a focus on Nordic films, it would have been impossible for us to create a commercially viable business without the Fund’s support. After a long and consistent work invested in distribution of Nordic films we can today say that there is a market for them in Finland.

In addition, the fact that our audience has an opportunity to see the best Nordic films also improves the quality of our Finnish ones. Our demanding audience compares our local films with the best Nordic ones and this is positive. The competition makes us run harder. Sometimes the Fund can also be a good coach or a manager!”

IsiIsleifur Thorhallsson, Sena/Green Light Films, Iceland
“In recent years Nordisk Film & TV Fond has been very important for Green Lights Films. Thanks to the Nordic High Five and other programmes we have been able to focus much more than before on the distribution of Nordic films in Iceland. In fact it has become an integral part of our operations and thanks to this the Icelandic audience can now see many more Nordic films in Icelandic cinemas than ever before.”

Lise Lense-Møller, Magic Hour Films, Denmark
“Nordisk Film and TV-Fond is incredibly valuable. The competent, creative input and consultancy is always useful, and the Fund is very accessible compared to many other pan-national schemes. Most importantly however, the Fund serves a rare and necessary financial purpose: Especially when you produce documentaries, it is extremely difficult to have enough 'key creative elements' to place in potential co-production countries to close a budget, so ''funding without borders' (as you may call NFTF support) is key to the flexibility that allows you to prioritise creative choices over financial rules and regulations - i.e. it is key to quality and project integrity.”

Hanne Palmquist, former CEO, Commissioning Editor, TV Drama and Features, SVT Sweden
“In the 1990s Nordisk Film & TV Fond played a key role in building a broad Nordic community within film and television alongside ensuring the widest possible Nordic audience for the best possible Nordic films.

In the 2000s the Fund saw the need for talent development (Nordic Talents) and branding of Nordic films also on a political level via establishing the Nordic Council Film Prize.

In the 2010s the digital possibilities evolved and the Fund responded by launching the High Five Cross Media for Kids initiative. As TV drama took off, the support of TV series expanded naturally. Lately the Fund has widened its distribution focus and adapted to the digital challenges.

Nordisk Film & TV Fond is a lean and non-bureaucratic visionary fast mover - constantly adapting to time and changes – that’s the core of its ongoing importance and genuine success.

Congratulations to Nordisk Film & TV Fond and thereby to the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Nordic film institutes and TV-stations behind. 25 years of exquisite collaboration is indeed worth celebrating!”

Svend Abrahamsen, former CEO, Denmark
“One of the greatest achievements of Nordisk Film & TV Fond is to have incentivized cross-collaboration and fertilization between talents and directors as well as between the film and television industries in the Nordic region, something that wasn’t so common when I started as CEO of the Fund in 2000.

Part of the Fund’s success is perhaps due to its organization, the only one of its kind bringing together private and public broadcasters, as well as film institutes and an inter-governmental body, the Nordic Council of Ministers. Also, the fact that the CEO takes all funding decisions, with the help of a handful of collaborators, means that the bulk of the money goes straight to the Nordic film and television industries and decision-making is very fast. “

Kim Foss, Camera Film, Denmark
“We are grateful for the many fruitful co-operations we have had with Nordisk Film & TV Fond over the years. The Fund has been very proactive in articulating and dealing with the challenges facing films and filmmakers from the Nordic countries, not the least within the region itself.”
