The former CEO of Nordisk Film & TV Fond has been appointed Commissioning Editor and VP of Original Programming at HBO Nordic.

Palmquist is currently Commissioning Editor for Feature Film at the Danish Film Institute; she will join the Nordic division of the US group on August 1. She has held various senior positions in the Nordic film and television industries, such as Commissioning Editor TV Drama and Feature Film for SVT, Head of Nordisk Film & TV Fond from 2007 to 2013 and Nordic Acquisition Manager for Nordisk Film.

Palmquist will be based in Copenhagen and will report to Antony Root, EVP of Original Programming and Production at HBO Europe who said: 

“I am absolutely delighted that Hanne is joining HBO Europe. The breadth and depth of her experience in Scandinavia’s film and television industries, and her strong relationships with the creative and production communities in all the countries, will be an invaluable asset to HBO as we start to develop and commission original programming for our Nordic subscribers.”

HBO Nordic is available both as premium streaming service and via distribution partners in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The Time-Warner controlled HBO group behind cult series such as The Sopranos, The Wire, True Detective, has been instrumental in raising the bar for TV drama. Season 6 of the flagship series Games of Thrones starring Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau premiered on HBO Nordic on April 25.
