Former Head of Development at Tre Vänner, Jenny Stjernströmer Björk (pictured) has been appointed Executive VP Acquisition & Co-productions at Scandinavian major Svensk Filmindustri. Her role consists of supervising all new rights brought to Svensk, as acquisitions of international films, TV series, children content or Nordic co-productions.

The Scandinavian major is still looking for two executives to fill the roles as Head of Production and Head of Nordic Co-productions.

Stjernströmer Björk who has a background as literary agent, in PR management and in publishing told nordiskfilmogtvfond.com she will not be involved in production and will focus entirely on co-productions and acquisitions, working closely with Svensk’s Head of Film Acquisitions Robert Enmark, Head of Home Entertainment Tore Skarelid and the future managers of Svensk’s productions and Nordic co-productions.

She will also supervise Svensk’s new Business Intelligence department. “This is a totally new and unique position within the company,” said Stjernströmer Björk. “We believe that with the fast-moving consumer behaviour, we need to look more closely at market trends. We want to draw experience from how the market behaves and make that information part of our marketing, distribution and co-production strategy."

Svensk’s new Executive VP was also part of the team that recently closed a co-production and distribution deal with French media group StudioCanal. “Part of our strategy is to create major alliances in Europe while keeping a focus on local content that remain the core of our business”, noted Stjernströmer Björk. She also sees the StudioCanal alliance as a good opportunity for Nordic talents to work on international projects while keeping a solid link with Svensk and Scandinavia.
Stjernströmer Björk is also part of the Bonnier-owned company’s Nordic management team.

Current high profile Nordic co-productions in SF’s line up include Joachim Trier’s first English language film Louder than Bombs and Kasper Barfoed’s Summer of 92, both supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
