Filming starts on October 21 on the major European TV drama The Team (8x58’) represented at MIPCOM by ZDF Enterprises. Top actors hired to be part of the European joint-investigating team (JIT) are Denmark's Lars Mikkelsen, German actress Jasmin Gerat and Belgium’s Veerle Baetens.

The crime story written by the Emmy-award-winning Danish couple Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm centres on a series of murders of prostitutes committed throughout Europe and the JITs are asked to work on the case. Filming split between Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and will last until May 2014. The Danish creative team includes conceptual director Kathrine Windfeld (The Killing, The Bridge), cinematographer Morten Søborg, editor Per K. Kirkegaard and producer Thomas Heinesen.

The series produced by Germany’s Peter Nadermann is a co-production between Network Movie (Germany), Nordisk Film (Denmark), Lumiere and Lunanime (Belgium), Super Films (Austria) in cooperation with ZDF, DR SVT, ORF and Arte among others. Nordisk Film & TV Fond supported the series as well as the newly created Copenhagen Film Fund, “I am very pleased that the Copenhagen Film Fund has boarded the production of The Team which is the first multi-bilingual European crime series built on the increasingly popular Scandinavian crime noir tradition”, said the newly appointed head of the Fund Thomas Gammeltoft. European viewers can expect to watch the ‘road’ series next Christmas.
