The conditions to apply and outline of the Nordic Genre Boost programme are very similar to the initial round of support. A minimum of five selected projects will be able to access a single NOK200.000 grant and to attend two residential workshops, one held during the Night Visions Festival in Helsinki, and the second during the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.

The first round of Nordic Genre Boost was very successful in attracting seven quality genre projects that went onto securing co-financing/distribution deals and even an award - the Best Pitch Award in Haugesund - for the Danish sci-fi Teenage Jesus by Marie Grahtø (Beofilm). The Finnish slasher film Bodom by Taneli Mustonen (Don Films) is already in production and other projects such as the Danish supernatural Border by Ali Abbasi (Meta Film) and Thale-Conflux by Alexander Nordaas (Yesbox Productions, Norway) will start filming in the spring and summer 2016 respectively.
Troll Hunter director André Øvredal who is preparing the €4m UFO project Bright Skies for Nordisk Film Norway said: “[Nordic Genre Boost] is a really useful event. It was instrumental in making important improvements to my film Bright Skies, and to my pitching skills and approach in general.”
Finnish producer Leila Lyytikäinen (Fisher King Production) behind the English language Bloodsuckers said: “Nordic genre content is highly regarded internationally and an initiative like this gives it the recognition it deserves.”
The selected Nordic Genre Boost projects will be announced in February 2016.
