Morten Tyldum is running for Best Director for the US/US period film The Imitation Game that racked a total of eight nominations. Tyldum will run against Alejandro G. Iñárritu; Wes Anderson, Bennett Miller and Richard Linklater.
Torill Kove will be back on the red carpet of the Dolby Theatre for the third time with her new animated short film Me and My Moulton (Moulton og meg). The director was first nominated in 2000 for My Grandmother Ironed the King’s Shirt and in 2006 she picked up the coveted statuette for her short animated The Danish Poet. Kove’s first feature length animation film Hocus pocus, Alfie Atkins (Hokus Pokus Albert Åberg) was backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
As for Iceland’s Jóhann Jóhannsson, he is the favorite among five Oscar contenders for Best Original Score Composer, having won last Sunday a Golden Globe for his work on The Theory of Everything.
The Danish co-produced Ida by Polish director by Pawel Pawlikowski is vying for Best Foreign Language Film.
This year’s Oscar gala will take place on 22 February in Los Angeles.
