Kon-Tiki actor Pål Sverre Hagen and Äkta Människor’s Pia Halvorsen have joined Sven Nordin (Lilyhammer) in the Norwegian medical drama thriller Valkyrien, currently filming in Oslo for Tordenfilm and NRK.

Sven Nordin plays a physician who runs an illegal clinic in a bomb shelter, while secretly treating his dying wife (Pia Halvorsen). The patients including criminals, doomsday preppers are provided for by Leif (Pål Sverre Hagen), a corrupt Civil Defence official connected to the underground criminal and political world. Other actors include Ellen Birgitte Winther (Out of Nature) and Mikkel Bratt Silset (Lilyhammer). Speaking to newspaper VG, Sven Nordin said: This [series] is very special. I have not seen anything similar, either in theme or setting, although it is within the popular Nordic genre.”

The 8x45’ series is co-created by Thomas Seeberg Torjussen and director Erik Richter Strand, based on an original idea by Torjussen, Lars Gudmestad and Simen Svale Skogsrud. Eric Vogel and Nina B. Andersson produce for NRK, in coproduction with Denmark’s Fridthjof Film, and support from the Norwegian Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. APC handles world distribution. The premiere is set for early 2017.
