The third instalment in Andersson’s trilogy on ‘being human’ will be released in the US next year and directors Darren Aronofsky and Alejandro González Iñárritu have agreed to introduce the film to US audiences.
Magnolia Pictures is the biggest US buyer of Scandinavian films. Current films playing under its label in US cinemas include Nymphomaniac-Director’s Cut and We Are the Best. Upcoming titles comprise Pioneer and Force Majeure.
Other key territories that have acquired Andersson’s existential tale include the UK (Artificial Eye-Curzon), Italy (Lucky Red), Spain (Golem), France (Les Films du losange), Japan (Bitters End) and Taiwan (Andrews Film).
