Miso Film’s latest high profile TV drama Acquitted produced for TV2 Norway is to reunite some of Scandinavia’s biggest names including Nicolai Cleve Broch and Lena Endre (pictured). Directors Geir Henning Hopland (Lilyhammer) and Rune Denstad Langlo (North) are attached to the 10x45’ series starting principal photography on April 24, 2014.

Written by Siv Rajendram Eliassen (Those Who Kill) and Anna Bache-Wiig, Acquitted follows Aksel Borgen (Cleve Broch) a business man who has worked his way to the top during his 20 years in Asia, having left his native town after being acquitted of the murder of his high school sweetheart. When his home town’s cornerstone business is threatened by bankruptcy, Borgen returns to save the place that once turned its back on him. The past has not been forgotten. His arrival tears old wounds apart and new conflicts arise as the past meets the present. Swedish star actress Lena Endre plays Eva Hansteen, the CEO of the cornerstone business. Other cast members are Synnøve Macody Lund (Headhunters), Tobias Santelmann (Kon-Tiki), Fridtjov Såheim (The Half Brother), Henrik Rafaelsen (Lilyhammer), Ellen Dorrit Petersen (Blind) and Ingar Helge Gimle (The Third Eye).

"Acquitted has a strong fundamental conflict that generate distinct characters and progress. The viewer will be captured by the unsolved murder case, powerful characters and when you add the spectacular landscape and the story about an isolated and threatened community you have both identification and fascination. It is an obvious strength that the TV-series has the potential to unfold over several seasons", said TV2 Norway Head of Drama Christopher Haug.

The NOK 68.7 million (€ 8.2m) series produced by Miso Film Norway’s Brede Hovland with founding partners Jonas Allen and Peter Bose was supported by the Norwegian Film Institute, SVT, TV 2 Denmark, Nordisk Film, Filmfondet FUZZ and Lumière Benelux. FremantleMedia International will introduce the series at MIPTV in Cannes alongside Miso Film’s Danish crime drama Dicte (20X60’). The production company’s other major TV drama 1864 is represented by Svensk Filmindustri.
