Based on Väinö Linna’s literary classic Unknown Soldier and his lesser known War Novel, Louhimies’ long-gestated project focuses on a regiment of ordinary Finnish soldiers in the battlefield between Finland and the Soviet Union. The domestic release set for December 2017 will coincide with Finland’s 100 anniversary of its independence. The €7M film just secured financing from majority private financiers, and is support by the Finnish Film Foundation and YLE. Tenhunen is producing for Louhimies' new company Suomi 2017.
Tenhunen was in Haugesund with two films produced for his shingle Mjölk Movies. Aleksi Salmenperä’s comedy Distractions, premiering domestically on September 11 via SF Film, and Mikko Kuparinen’s first English language film 2 Nights Till Morning. The Finnish/Lithuanian co-production starring Canadian actress Marie-Josée Croze has just been selected for competition at the Montreal World Film Festival. Wide Management handles world sales.
