NICE Drama’s hit series Thicker than Water which scored on SVT’s prime time slot in 2014 with an average 1,013,000 viewers is returning for a second season. Filming has started this week for the 10 part family drama created by Henrik Jansson-Schweizer and directed by Erik Leijonborg and Anders Engström.

The second season deals with issues of identity and guilt in a dysfunctional family attempting to heal old wounds. The three siblings - Lasse Waldemar (Björn Bengtsson) his brother Oskar (Joel Spira) and sister Jonna (Aliette Opheim) - are now equal co-owners of the guesthouse and the estate on the island of Sunnano that their mother left behind after her death.


Season two is produced by Malte Forsell (NICE Drama) in co-production with SVT, YLE and Filmpool Nord. ZDFE handles world sales. The premiere on SVT1 is scheduled for 2016.

Meanwhile season one of Thicker than Water which was backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond is going to premiere on ARTE France on April 9.
