Bekas Wins 2010 Nordic Talents Award

Last Friday evening, the jury of Nordic Talents 2010, including Danish director Per Fly and UK producer Andy Harries, handed out the Nordic Talents Award and its NOK250,000 development money from Nordisk Film & TV Fond to Sweden's Bekas by Karzan Kader (photo), ending a two-day event attended by 220 Nordic film students and film professionals.

Nordic Talents To Watch

Fourteen film graduates from the National Film School of Denmark, the University of Aalo, Finland, Göteborg University and Dramatiska Institutet in Sweden, and the Norwegian Film School of Lillehammer were on hand at Nordic Talents 2010 to pitch their projects. We selected the two winners and two other promising talents whose works have drawn attention from festivals and financiers.

Yellow Affair Launches first Full Line Up In Toronto

The former Nonstop Sales executive Miira Paasilinna (photo) is launching at Toronto the first full line up of titles of the newly born sales outfit Yellow Affair - based in Stockholm and Helsinki. Backed by the Finnish media group Yellow Film & TV Ltd, the sales company represents half a dozen Nordic titles including Sebbe and Lapland Odyssey. Paasilinna explains why Yellow Affair stands out from the other Nordic sales companies.

Nordic Candidates For EFA And Oscars Selection

The first films that will take part in the competition for the major annual film awards in Europe (European Film Awards) and in the world (the Oscars) have started to make headlines. Bad Family, Mamma Gógó, Upperdog, Sebbe, and Submarino (all supported by Nordisk Film & TV Fond) are the Nordic candidates for the EFA nominations, while Sweden has picked newcomer Andreas Öhman and his comedy Simple Simon (I rymden finns inga känslor - photo) for the Oscars nominations in Best Foreign Language Film.
