Swedish public broadcaster SVT is currently filming Selma, a 2 x 60min drama series based on Swedish world renowned novelist Selma Lagerlöf's life. Helena Bergström (photo) is playing the author of ‘The Wonderful Adventures of Nils', alongside Ingela Olsson and Alexandra Rapaport, cast as Selma's best friends Sophie Elkan and Balborg Olander. Other key cast members include Magnus Krepper, as Carl Larsson, Göran Stangertz  as Strindberg, Ola Rapace, as Sophie Elkan's boyfriend Alexis, and Sonja Richter, as Marie Kröyer.

The Drama is directed by Erik Leijonborg (Tusenbröder) based on a script by Åsa Lantz (Solisterna). The first part of the series will portray Selma, aged 37, and her friend Sophie Elkan during a summer holiday in Taormina, Sicily in 1895. Selma has just had her breakthrough with ‘The Story of Gösta Berling'. The second part is set in Stockholm in 1909. Selma is going to receive the Nobel Prize in literature, the first time ever the prestigious award is handed out to a woman.

The Drama series is currently filming betweenGöteborg and Mallorca until May. SVT will air it as its special Drama for Christmas 2008.
