Steinunn Ólína Þorsteinsdóttir who plays detective Gabriela in the Icelandic TV show Case directed by Baldvin Zophoníasson (Life in a Fishbowl) was awarded on Saturday the Fipa d’or for Best Actress in a TV series at Biarritz’ FIPA International Festival of Audiovisual works.

The 9x60’ Case premiered in October on Channel 2 in Iceland and had ratings over 60% on average. Red Arrow International handles world distribution. The series produced by Sagafilm with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond competed in Biarritz against ten international TV series, including Sweden’s Ängelby and the UK show River for which Swedish star Stellan Skarsgård was bestowed a Fipa d’or for Best Actor.

The FIPA festival closed on Saturday with the screening of Baltasar Kormákur’s crime show Trapped set to air on French pubcaster France 2 on February 8, 2016.
