The director of Woman at War will give an inspirational speech at the networking and pitching event unspooling September 4-5 at the National Film School of Denmark.

The masterclass is one of the highlights of Nordic Talents, together with the pitching of around 15 projects from Nordic film graduates.

Registration to attend is now open, until late August. To sign up CLICK HERE.

Icelandic writer/director/actor Benedikt Erlingsson is this year’s guest of honour. After his breakthrough feature debut Of Horses and Men (2013), the director’s second feature Woman at War was a critical and audience success, winner of multiple awards such as the SACD Award for Best Screenplay at the Cannes Critics Week 2018, and the Nordic Council Film Prize 2018.

On Thursday September 5, Erlingsson will discuss the making of the eco-thriller Woman at War and in particular the use of music, for which he shared the Harpa Nordic Film Composers Award with composer Davíð Þór Jónsson at the last Berlinale. The onstage conversation will be moderated by Silje Riise Næss, film commissioner at the Danish Film Institute.

Erlingsson’s masterclass will be followed by Nordic Talents’ awards ceremony where the winners of the NOK 250,000 Nordic Talents Pitch Prize and NOK 50,000 Special Mention Prize will be announced.

This year’s jury comprises Danish writer/director May el Toukhy (Queen of Hearts), producer Ulla Simonen, head of the Finnish promotional centre for audiovisual culture AVEK, Icelandic producer Grimar Jonsson (Rams), Ståle Stein Berg, film & TV drama commissioner at the Norwegian Film Institute and a fifth member to be annouced later.

Nordic Talents’ third piece de résistance, the Producers’ Pitch will be held on Wednesday September 4. A dozen Nordic producers will introduce themselves and their company to the 200+ attendees.

Nordic Talents is co-organised by Nordisk Film & TV Fond and the National Film School of Denmark.
