The new Helsinki-based production outfit Bronson Club set up by Jesse Fryckman and Tero Kaukomaa to support low budget films with an edge, has come on board the Estonian film The Temptation of St Tony by the award-winning Veiko Õunpuu (Autumn Ball).
“The producer of the film Katrin Kissa approached Tero because she knew of Bronson Club and thought her project would perfectly suit our company,” explained Fryckman. “I had seen Autumn Ball and thought it had a really interesting twist. We read the script of The Temptation and just loved the project.”

Õunpuu’s new film based on his own original screenplay will draw inspiration from the legend of Saint Anthony, using a contemporary setting and storyline to reflect on goodness: can someone become a saint today and be sincerely and selflessly good?

The project won the MEDIA European Talent Award at the last Cannes Film Festival and was just awarded €80,000 in production support from the Finnish Film Foundation. The €983,080 film is produced by Kissa’s Homeless Bob production in co-production with Bronson Club and Sweden’s Kristina Åberg (Atmo). Actor Taavi Eelmaa who plays the coatroom attendant in Autumn Ball will have the lead role in The Temptation. Principal photography will take place between September 20-November 10, and the premiere in Finland is set for September 10, 2009.

Bronson Club’s other feature film project Sauna is now in final stages of editing. The €1.1m horror film directed by A.J. Annila (Jade Warrior) was heavily promoted at the last Cannes Film Festival with the tag line: ‘wash your sins'.
