The Swedish thriller series ALEX starring Easy Money’s Dragomir ”Gago” Mrsic starts filming this month in Göteborg. Based on an original idea by Dragomir Mrsic (who goes by the nickname ’Gago’) and Mikael Cross, the six-episode series is written by Niklas Rockström (Before we Die) and Michael Hjorth (Sebastian Bergman).

The actor plays the ruthless and corrupt police officer Alex who has decided to come to terms with his dubious past and become clean. But the dark forces he has collaborated with earlier refuse to let him off the hook, putting both Alex and his family's lives at great danger. At the same time Alex gets a new partner, Frida (Rakel Värmländer from Gåsmamman) who secretly has been instructed to bring him down.

"It is wonderful to finally make a tough thriller that dares to go beyond what we usually get to see and that dares to show the raw criminal reality. ALEX takes place in a brutal world that I have seen up close and which we get to experience without compromise”, said Gago.

The show is produced by Oscar-nominated Nicklas Wickström Nicastro (A Man Called Ove) of SF Studios, in co-production with Film i Väst and Viaplay. Paris-based About Premium Content (APC) handles world distribution. Lumiere has pre-bought rights for Benelux and MTG-owned Viaplay will premiere the show across the Nordics in the spring 2018.

"Alex is a dream project that we, along with Gago, have worked on for a long time. The script is really sharp and edgy and it feels incredibly inspiring to be able to realize this project together with our friends at Viaplay, said Nicklas Wikström Nicastro.

APC’s joint CEO Laurent Boissel added: ”The whole combination of a great production company –SF Studios, a great actor such as Gago whom we loved in the fabulous Easy Money trilogy, and a premium platform like Viaplay just made the investment very compelling and almost a no brainer…”.

Other high premium Nordic dramas handled by APC include the Norwegian thriller Valkyrien and dramedy Young and Promising
