The actor will join Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Prime Minister Erna Solberg and two other personalities chosen to hand out the five Nordic Council Prizes on October 30 in Oslo.

The awards ceremony at Oslo’s Opera House will be transmitted on NRK1 and on www.nrk.no from 19hr45.

Oftebro (32) is one of Norway’s most versatile actors alternating roles for film, television, and theatre across the Nordic Countries. Over the last 14 years, he has appeared in 25 films, such as Charlotte Sieling’s The Man for which he received a 2018 Danish Robert award for Best Supporting Actor.

His dozen TV drama credits include some of Scandinavia’s most internationally acclaimed series such as The Bridge, Lilyhammer, 1864, Young & Promising and Below the Surface.

Oftebro will hand out the DKK 350,000 Nordic Council Film Prize to one of this year’s five nominees comprising:

  • Denmark’s Winter Brothers (Vinterbrødre) by Hlynur Palmason
  • Finland’s Euthanizer (Armomurhaaja) by Teemu Nikki
  • Iceland’s Woman at War (Kona fer i strið) by Benedikt Erlingsson
  • Norway’s Thelma by Joachim Trier 
  • Sweden’s Ravens (Korparna) by Jens Assur. 

The Nordic Council Children & Young People’s Literature Prize will be handed out by Sweden’s celebrated children’s books author/illustrator Gunilla Bergström, the Nordic Council Literature Prize by Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, the Nordic Council Environment Prize by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg, and the Nordic Council Music Prize by Swedish singer/composer Sofia Jernberg.

The Nordic Council prizes will be awarded in conjunction with the 70th Session of the Nordic Council in Oslo.

Last year’s winner of the Nordic Council Film Prize was Finland's Little Wing by Selma Vilhunen.
