The Swedish TV executive just moved to NENT Group’s streaming service from Discovery Networks Sweden.

The senior TV executive has worked for the last 13 years at Discovery Networks Sweden as Head of Programmes/Drama commissioner, where he executive produced major shows such as 100 Code, Mother Goose (Gåsmamman) and The Truth Will Out (Det som göms i snö).

Petersson will report to Viaplay’s Director of Programmes Fredrik Ljungberg. “We are very pleased to have attracted Jon, with his experience and knowledge in drama production. Most recently he has proved his talent with The Truth Will Out, which was co-produced by Kanal 5 and Viaplay,” said Ljungberg who previously worked with Petersson at Kanal 5.
“Viaplay is the most ambitious drama commissioner in the Nordics and its natural for me to want to join them,’ noted Petersson.

Viaplay is now bringing to the Nordic market 20 TV shows a year, many of which achieve international distribution, such as Alex, sold to streaming partners in Europe, Asia and the US, Veni Vidi Vici, sold to Hulu, and Black Lake, sold to BBC Four and AMC Networks’s Shudder. Viaplay Original kids content programmed this month include the Christmas calendar series The Great Escape (Det Stora Experimentet) season 2, produced by Nexiko.
