SVT has commissioned eight new episodes of the Swedish supernatural thriller series produced by Palladium Fiction. The 112-day shoot starts next week in Stockholm.
The SEK 64m (€6.7M) show is produced by Palladium’s Filip Hammarström, in co-production with SVT, ITV Studios in the UK, Europa Sound, Stockholm Mälardalen Film region, in cooperation with Film Capital Stockholm and Gotland Film Fund. ITV Studios handles world sales and the premiere on SVT is scheduled for the fall 2017.

Creator Henrik Björn is back as main writer and concept director. Episodic directors are Daniel DiGrado (Farang) and Jakob Ström (Torpederna). The writing team comprises Aron Levander, Lovisa Milles, Filip Hammarström, and Tatjana Andersson.

Hammarström says season 2 starts two years later. “This time we go deeper into the characters, ask new questions and uncover new mysteries and twists”. The main character, police investigator Eva Törnblad [Moa Gammel] has moved on and pushed away all the bad things that happened to her in Season 1. She tries to stay in urban areas, away from the forest of Silverhöjd, but of course, things catch up on her and she’s drawn back to the mysterious forest where her daughter disappeared almost a decade earlier. Other returning cast members comprise Göran Ragnerstam (police officer Göran Wass) and Richard Forsgren (Tom Aronsson).

Season 1 was a major hit for SVT with 1.6 million consolidated viewers for its premiere.

It was sold to 50 territories and was particularly successful in France (Arte) and in the UK (ITV Encore).

Palladium Fiction (co-owned by Sony Television) has other projects in development such as Interference, a character-drive drama thriller co-produced by France’s Atlantique Productions.
