Metoo (Tottumiskysymys) is an episodic film in which women experience one-off incidents linked to sexual harassment and the invisible use of power towards them in private and public places.

The entire One-Off Incident project comprising 10 short films and an impact campaign, received two pitch prizes at Haugesund’s New Nordic Films and the Helsinki Finnish Film Affair industry events.

The feature film stars Julia Lappalainen, Veikko Aalste, Tommi Eronen, Joel Hirvonen, Johannes Holopainen, Elina Knihtilä, Krista Kosonen among others.

Directors are Kirsikka Saari, Elli Toivoniemi, Reetta Aalto, Alli Haapasalo, Anna Paavilainen, Miia Tervo, and Jenni Toivoniemi.

Metoo is co-produced by Sweden’s SIC Films. The premiere is set for the fall 2019.

Two minority co-productions received funding:

  • The Norwegian film The Innocents by Eskil Vogt (Blind) co-produced by Finland’s Bufo Oy. The film follows the main character Hans Petter into the secret world of childhood, full of the magic but also scary and gruesome elements. 
  • The Polish animated film Ro by Magda Osińska, co-produced by Finland’s Filmkompaniet Alpha.

Eight documentaries received support:

  • Redi by John Webster about the aftermath of a violent crime, 
  • The Glass Ceiling (Lasikatto) by Mari Soppela about gender equality in the workplace (LPMA Productions), 
  • Gold Miners (Kullankaivajat) by Boys Who Like Girls’ director Inka Achté (Napafilms),
  • Reflecting Ice (Jään vetovoima) by Nina Forsman (Wacky Tie Films)  
  • Tukdam by Donagh Coleman (Making Movies) 
  • Still Into You (Rakkauselokuva) by Anu Kuivalainen (Bonsai Films) 
  • Smells Like Teen Spirit by Esa Illi (Inland Film Company) 
  • Writing With Fire by Sushmit Ghosh, Rintu Thomas, minority co-producd by John Webster.

Three TV series received support:

  • Zoo! Viral Geniuses ((Zoo! Viraalit nerot) by Elin Grönblom, written by comedians Kaj Korkea-aho and Ted Forsström. The series centres on a teenage boy and his everyday life at school.
  • Eva, a documentary series about Finland’s female super-featherweight champion Eva Walhström, directed by Mikko Peltonen.
    Both Zoo! Viral Geniuses and Eva are produced by Citizen Jane Productions. 
  • Monday (Maanantai2) by Samuli Valkama (No Thank You) is based on a script by Melli Maikkula (The Ceiling) and John Lundsten of Tack Films.
