The star actor who hasn’t played a comedic role in several years has boarded Nexiko’s Tårtgeneralen. Swedish comedians Lars Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson – aka Filip & Fredrik- will make their directorial debut with this quirky comedy based on their own book, itself inspired by a true story.

In 1984, the small town of Köping was voted in a TV show the most boring place in Sweden, until a local entrepreneur, the oddball Hasse P, decided to create the biggest sandwich cake in the world to put Köping in the Guinness book of records.

Tårtgeneralen will be a feel-good movie with a socio-political layer. Other key cast include Helena Bergström and Tomas von Brömssen.

The film is produced by Renée Axö and Martin Söder of Nexiko, in co-production with SF Studios, SVT, Film i Väst and Hobohm Brothers, with support from the Swedish Film Institute. Filming is set to start soon. SF Studios handles domestic and international distribution.
