The industry event will include feature project presentations and panel discussions. The first workshop part of the ‘Nordic Genre Boost’ initiative backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond will run from April 17th. The seven selected NGB projects that will benefit from professional expertise on script development, financing and sales, festival strategies comprise André Øvredal’s Bright Skies, Ragnar Bragason’s The Highlands, Aleksander Nordaas’ Thale 2, Ali Abbasi’s Border, Taneli Mustonen’s Bodom, Marie Grathø Sørensen’s Teenland and Elin Grönblom’s Bloodsuckers.
Mikko Aromaa, founder of Night Visions is pleased to offer his festival window to the Nordic Genre Boost projects to raise audience awareness on upcoming Nordic genre titles at various stages of production, alongside finished titles such as the Swedish splatter comedy American Burger, which has its Finnish premiere at the festival.
His long term goal is to ‘improve the communication between genre film festivals in different Nordic countries’ and expand this festival collaboration to other European genre platforms such as Tallinn’s Black Nights Film Festival, the Fantastic Zagreb Film Festival, and Screen Division Agency in Paris, all partners with Night Visions in the ‘European Genre Forum initiative.
A total of 30 feature films will screen at this year’s Night Visions. International guests announced include US actor Lou Taylor Pucci (Thumbsucker) and three directors of the new German Angst anthology: Jörg Buttereit, Michal Kosakowski and Andreas Marschall.
