The director starts filming on March 20 the life story of Danish folk and pop singer John Mogensen.

Så længe jeg lever (‘lit As Long as I Live’) marks the third collaboration of Bornedal with Miso’s co-founders and producers Jonas Allen and Peter Bose, after the TV drama 1864 and dark comedy Small Time Killers, currently number two at the Danish top 10 film chart with nearly 200,000 admissions.

The film focuses on the Danish songwriter/pianist’s ups and downs through his life as a touring musician, husband and father. It follows him through his childhood, his time with the group ‘Four Jacks’ and his successful solo career until his heart attack in 1977 caused by excessive consumption of alcohol. Rasmus Bjerg plays John Mogensen and supporting actors include Helle Fagralid, Peter Mygind and David Dencik.

Producer Jonas Allens said: “The narrative of As Long as I Live combines drama, ostentatious selfishness, heartfelt love and dark self-destruction. Our ambition is to produce a touching, visual and musical film, first to be seen, but that also gives the opportunity to hear John Mogensen’s popular songs. "

The DKK 27.2 million project is produced by Miso Film in co-production with 4Fiction and Nordisk Film, with co-financing from TV 2 Denmark and the West Danish Film Fund. The domestic theatrical release via Nordisk Film Distribution is scheduled for 2018.
