For the first time ever Iceland’s top director/producer Baltasar Kormákur will team up with the Scandinavian major.

The English-language feature project I Am Victor is based on the upcoming novel by Norway’s best-selling author Jo Nesbø. The thriller set in London focus on Victor, a skilled but morally corrupt and narcissistic divorce settlement lawyer who finds himself framed for a series of brutal murders thus starting his own investigation to find the killer.

UK writing duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Skyfall, Casino Royale) are currently writing the script and Kormákur (Trapped, The Oath) will direct.

SF Studios’ Head of Film/Producer and Senior Vice President of International Production Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (Easy Money trilogy) told nordicfilmandtvnews.com: ”I put the creative team together. Baltasar was my first choice so I got in touch directly with him and Agnes [Johansen] at RVK studios and after talking it through we decided that we wanted to develop it together. I then started looking for scriptwriters out of the UK by meeting agents and scriptwriters. When Purvis & Wade wanted to come on-board it wasn´t much of a discussion, they are just perfect for it. Their “James Bond tone” is a great match with Nesbø´s and their writing is just top-notch. So we started off the scriptwriting process last year by spending a couple of days in Reykjavik together with Jo Nesbø.”

Purvis and Wade said: ”We’re delighted to be working with Baltasar and SF Studios to bring this exciting Jo Nesbø thriller to the screen. Victor is a genuinely unique character and we’re looking forward to spending time with him.”

Kormákur who will next direct the Hollywood feature Adrift starring Shailene Woodley said it is too early to say if I Am Victor will be his next directing project after the US disaster movie.
According to Wikström-Nicastro, I am Victor has an estimated budget of $20 million. Asked who would handle world distribution, the producer said: “I can´t say much right now, other than that SF Studios is currently holding all rights and the international interest is huge.”
