IJustWantToBeCool creators play the title roles in the comedy show Småstaden (lit ‘The Small Town) produced by FLX. The 8x22’ series produced for C More/TV4, is co-written by FLX’s Tapio Leopold, Robin Muhr, Erik Hultkvist (Fallet/The Case), together with Jacob Seth Fransson.

Youtuber Emil Beer who launched IJustWantToBeCool’ with his brother Victor Ber and cousin Joel Adolphson, plays the young and inexperienced mayor of a small town, trying to save it from total collapse, as the town faces mass unemployment with the closing down of businesses and people are moving away.

Pontus Edgren, co-founder of FLX said the hiring of Swedish star Youtubers was a clear strategy from his company to target youngsters, but a broader audience as well with the humorous twist on the serious topic of declining rural activity.

Edgren also feels that director Patrik Eklund (Oscar-nominated for his short film Instead of Abrakadabra) will add a unique tone to the show. The established Annika Rogell (My Skinny Sister) is producing for FLX. Småstaden will premiere on TV4 August 27, 2017.

Other FLX productions set to premiere before the end of the year include the TV series Grotesco 3 (SVT), The Simple Heist (Enkelstöten) directed by Felix Herngren and Emma Bucht (C More/TV4) and Solsidan-The Movie scheduled for a Christmas release.
