Sofia Helin and Thure Lindhardt will return as the iconic Swedish detective Saga Nóren and her Danish counterpart Henrik Sabroe in the fourth and final season of The Bridge/Bron.

Filming starts in November for the crime show produced by Filmlance International and Nimbus Film for SVT and DR. Creator Hans Rosenfeldt shares the writing credits with Camilla Ahlgren and Rumle Hammerich will direct four of eight new episodes.

Piv Bernth, head of Drama at DR, confirmed that this will be the final round for the cult crime series that has glued millions of viewers around the world since the launch of the first season in 2011. "I can’t divulge anything about the plot as the script is still in the development stage, but I can promise that there will be an exciting and rousing conclusion,” she said. In a press statement, Bernth also confirmed that the final season will have a stronger Danish flavour as a larger part of the action will take place at Copenhagen’s police headquarters.

Bron/The Bridge season 4 will premiere on SVT, DR and NRK in 2018. ZDF Enterprises handles world distribution.
