Trine Dyrholm, Ingvar E. Sigurðsson, Levan Gelbakhiani EFA nominated

The actors have a chance to win a European Film Award for their respective roles in Queens of Hearts, A White, White Day and And Then We Danced.

The three films are also Oscar candidates in the International Feature Film category for Denmark, Iceland and Sweden and each leading actor has already garnered international accolades.

Dyrhom won Best Actress in Göteborg and in Zurich for the 2019 Nordic Council Film Prize winning film Queen of Hearts by May el Toukhy; Sigurðsson the top acting award in Cannes’ Critics’ Week, at the Transilvavian Film Festival and at Montreal Nouveau Cinéma for A White, White Day by Hlynur Pálmason, while Gelbakhiani was awarded in Valladolid, Sarajevo, Odessa, and most recently in Minsk for his acting debut in And Then We Danced. The Swedish/Georgian film by Levan Akin is also running for Best European University Film at the European Film Awards (EFA).

Other Nordic films nominees at the European Film Awards are: 

  • Sweden’s Aniara by Pella Kågerman & Hugo Lilja and Norway’s Blind Spot by Tuva Novotny, both running for Best Debut Films, 
  • Denmark’s Ditte & Louise by Niclas Bendixen, vying for Best European Comedy, 
  • Sweden’s multi-awarded genre film Border by Ali Abbasi and Denmark’s thriller Journal 64 by Christoffer Boe, both vying for the EFA People's Choice Award. 

The winners of the 32nd European Film Awards will be announced on December 7 in Berlin.
