Swedish star actor plays against Andrea Bræn Hovig in the Norwegian film directed by Maria Sødahl. Thomas Robsahm produces for Motlys.

Sødahl had her international breakthrough with her debut film Limbo that won Best Director-ex aequo in Montreal and picked up 10 Amanda nominations in 2011.

Her second feature Hope (håp) is based on a true story. Andrea Bræn Hovig (I Belong, All the Beauty) plays Anja who comes back home for Christmas after an international tour with her dance company. Her life companion Tomas (Stellan Skarsgård), their three children, along with three older children from previous relationships are all gathered in the pre-Christmas celebration, when Anja suddenly finds out that she has a life-threatening brain metastasis. Her and Tomas’ shaky relationship is put to test as both go through an emotional rollercoaster while looking for medical miracles.

The NOK 28.5m film is co-produced by Zentropa, with support from the Norwegian Film Institute. SF Studios handles Scandinavian distribution and TrustNordisk world sales.

The film is scheduled to start filming mid-January 2019. Delivery date is set for October 2019.
