Exclusive: The Norwegian family drama Blind Spot (formerly Tea) produced by Nordisk Film Production Norway will be delivered in April.

The established actress Tuva Novotny (Borg/McEnroe, Annihilation) was episodic director on the Norwegian shows Dag and Lilyhammer and makes a leap into feature filmmaking with Blind Spot, based on her own original script.

The film centres on a mother's struggle to understand her teenage daughter's crisis, when tragedy strikes the whole family. Key roles include Pia Tjelta (Next Summer, State of Happiness) Anders Baasmo Christensen (The King’s Choice), Per Frisch (Pyromaniac) and Oddgeir Thune (Occupied). Cinematographer Jonas Alarik (Ravens) is attached.

Nordisk Film’s producer Elisabeth Kvithyll told nordicfilmandtvnews.com: “This movie is about the grey zones in mental illness, the blind spots hard to discover, as experienced by a mother realising her daughter is struggling with far worse issues then she imagined. Tuva‘s script was inspired by the tragic rise in suicides in Norway; her own sincere wish is to put a spotlight on mental health care and the preventive methods available to help those in need.“

Nordisk Film’s Elisabeth Kvithyll acts as producer and René Ezra and Matilda Appelin co-producers. The film received support from the Norwegian Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Nordisk Film Distribution will release it in Norway on September 14, 2018.
