The Danish mini-series Finding Home (Håbet) set in 1899 has just started filming, with Oscar nominated Christian E. Christiansen behind the camera.

The 4x40’ family drama based on an original script by Ina Bruhn (The Wish) tells of the 15-year old Marie who set on a mission to find her father who has gone missing at sea. Disguised as a boy, she boards the vessel ‘Håbet’ on a dramatic journey at sea from Denmark to Norway, full of danger, injustice, friendship and love.

Katrine Vogelsang, TV2 Head of Drama said: “Håbet is a great story about a young girl’s struggle to break free from the fate that society at the time has set for her, and chooses instead to become a strong and independent woman. It’s a compelling story about finding your origin, who you are and about growing up."

"At the same time", she continues, “the series takes us into a fascinating arena that has not been portrayed before in Danish TV drama: the great naval times around 1900. Denmark was a proud maritime nation and this background gives us unique opportunities for exciting storytelling and beautiful and dramatic images."

Newcomer Anine Lindvig cast as Marie, plays against the experienced actors Lars Brygmann (Dicte-Crime reporter), Lars Ranthe (The Hunt), Molly Blixt Egelind (Love is All You Need) and Jon Lange (Something’s Rockin). Filming takes place in Funen and several historical harbour cities and locations such as Bogense, Faaborg and Svendborg.

Finding Home is produced by Zentropa for TV2, in co-production with Film Fyn, Film i Väst, with support from the Danish Film Institute’s Public Service Fund, in collaboration with NRK, TV4/C More.

The premiere on TV2 is set for the fall 2018. TrustNordisk handles world sales.
