For the first time ever, the Festival de la Fiction de la Rochelle (September 9-13) is set to open with a Scandinavian TV drama, the Norwegian series Acquitted (Frikjent) produced by Miso Film Norway.

Acquitted is an excellent series with top writing, directing and acting talents,” said Carole Villevet, Head of the festival’s European selection. “Our goal this year is to focus on Europe and to platform European shows that have had great ratings nationwide. Acquitted is therefore a perfect choice for our prestigious opening slot,” she said. The series producer Brede Hovland and co-writers Siv Rajendram Eliassen and Anna Bache-Wiig will be on hand to introduce the show backed by Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

Two other Scandi TV dramas will screen in the International competition programme: the Danish drama series Broke (DR), and Norwegian comedy series Next Summer (Feelgood Scene Film & TV). The opening episode of the Swedish/Danish crime hit Broen/Bron Season 3 will premiere as part of a Case Study presented by Filmlance International’s managing director Lars Blomgren and the series’ producer Anders Landström. Finally for the first time the festival’s Jury will include a European TV personality: Swedish scriptwriter Camilla Ahlgren (Bron-The Sandhamn Murders).

La Rochelle is the oldest TV fiction festival in France, welcoming more than 35.000 visitors including 2,000 TV professionals. For further information check: http://www.festival-fictiontv.com/en/
