SVT’s drama series Real Humans scooped Best TV drama series and the Students’ Special Jury Prize at the prestigious Prix Italia 2013 ceremony held in Torino last Thursday. A total of 27 international TV dramas were competing including ZDF’s Generation War and TV2 Denmark’s Dicte. The jury said: “The originality of the concept made this show stand out…We particularly enjoyed the wit of Lars Lundström’s script and thought that the show has a very stylish look and feel." The sci-fi series produced by Matador with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond was sold to over 50 territories. Season Two will air on SVT1 on December 1st, 2013.

The Swedish Broadcasting Corporation was also awarded a Special Mention in the TV Documentary-Cultural and General Interest section for Håkan Pieniowski and Kåge Jonsson’s film Once There Was Love; NRK’s 22.07 – The Eyewitnesses about the July 2011 massacre won Best TV Documentary in the Current Affairs sidebar, and YLE’s Real Stories: Bride of Krishna won the Special Prize of the President of Italian Republic.
