Nearly 30 territories have acquired the Norwegian animated film, ahead of its pan-Nordic release January 24, 2020 in Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Ella Bella Bingo (Elleville Elfrid) about the little girl Ella Bella (12) and her friends, is a spin-off of NRK Super’s popular series, co-written by Frank Mosvold with seasoned US screenwriters Rob Sprackling and Johnny Smith (Gnomeo & Juliet).

Mosvold also co-directed the film with Atle Solberg Blakseth and produced it for Kool Production, in association with animation and VFX studio Gimpville (Kon-Tiki, The Wave).

Nordisk Film & TV Fond granted both production and dubbing support.

Global sales took off at the recent American Film Market in Los Angeles, where the voice cast for the international version lead by Summer Fontana (The Originals), Jack Fisher (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Benjamin Plessala (Big Little Lies), Tress MacNeille (The Simpsons) and Richard Kind (Inside Out) was announced. Norwegian voice actors comprise Ninni Spone, Oskar Fjeldstad-Bergheim, Elias Søvold-Simonsen, Gard B. Eidsvold, and Hege Schøyen.

Non-Nordic territories that have acquired the film include the US, UK, France, Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, the Baltics and Middle East, with several other countries in negotiation.

“The film is made for the Norwegian market, but it is great fun that children all over the world will now get to know her [Ella Bella] in the cinemas,” said Mosvold, who also stressed the rare simultaneous release in Norway (via Norsk Filmdistribusjon), Denmark and Finland (Scanbox) on January 27, 2020. To avoid a head-to-head release in Sweden with the popular kids franchise Pelle no-tail, (Pelle svanslös), Scanbox has scheduled a Swedish opening on March 27, 2020.
