For the second consecutive year the pitching and networking event for graduation Nordic film students and industry delegates will be held online.

Nordic Talents organised by Nordisk Film & TV Fond will be sticking to its early September dates for its 21st edition, but the usual exclusive set up at National Film School of Denmark in Copenhagen will be replaced for the second time by a safer digital showcase.

Online application for the Nordic graduation students’ pitch competition opens May 11.

"Due to the unpredictable Covid-19 situation across the Nordics, we have decided that NT21 will be an online event,” said project manager Ann-Sophie W. Birkenes at Nordisk Film & TV Fond who goes on: “Even if we were optimistic earlier this year and hoped for a get-together in Copenhagen, we felt there are too many uncertain factors preventing us from arranging the intimate and inclusive in-person event we all cherish.

Making the decision at an early stage will give everyone predictability and enable us as organisers to plan for an even better online event this year. Together with Filmgreb’s Tina Sørensen [Nordic Talents long time coordinator], we will build on last year’s positive experience from the audience, notably on the pre-recorded pitches. Furthermore, we will focus on facilitating interesting and fun networking opportunities for upcoming talents and industry people from the Nordics.”

Nordic Talents 2021 will unfold around its main programmes:

  • the centrepiece Pitching competition for Nordic graduating students where 15 projects will vie for the NOK 250,000 Best Pitch Award and NOK 50,000 Special Mention Award.
  • A prestigious jury consisting of established film professionals will announce the winners on the closing day, Thursday September 9.
  • Films from selected graduation students will be available for participants to watch online the week Nordic Talents takes place.
  • the Producers Pitch where 10-12 Nordic producers get a chance to introduce their company to 200+ attendees and to attract tomorrow’s Nordic talents.
  • the inspiring keynote speech or case study (details TBA).

Nordic Talents is a must-attend event for industry people scouting for the next generation of Nordic writers, directors and producers, and for graduation film students eager to get a jump-start in the film and television industry.

Former Nordic Talents winners include Milad Alami, Maria Bäck, Gustav Möller, Hlynur Pálmason, Marja Pyykkö, Rúnar Rúnarsson and May el-Toukhy.
