Registration opens today for Nordic Talents 2021

Sign up today to watch online the next generation of Nordic talents pitch their projects competing for the Nordic Talents Pitch Prize and Special Mention Prize.

The 21st Nordic Talents hosted by Nordisk Film & TV Fond will be held September 8-9.

Nordic Talents is a unique platform for talent scouting and networking between industry professionals and newly graduated Nordic film students.

For the second time, the informal and inclusive event will be held virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Nordic Talents is open to the following people:

  • Newly graduated Nordic film/TV BA- or MA students
  • Next year’s graduation students can attend as observers
  • Nordic industry professionals like producers, film commissioners, financiers, distributors etc. who are looking for new talent and networking opportunities

The key highlights are:

  • The centre-piece Pitch Competition will comprise 15 selected projects from graduation Nordic talents. The competing titles will be unveiled June 25.
  • This year’s prestigious jury set to provide valuable advice to the young pitchers and to hand out the NOK 250,000 Nordic Talents Pitch Prize and NOK 50,000 Special Mention Prize comprises writer/director Milad Alami (The Charmer, When the Dust Settles), Zentropa producer Karoline Leth (The Legacy, Rita), actress/writer/director Cecilie Mosli (Mammon, Home Ground), the Icelandic Film Centre’s script consultant Steven Meyers, Tuffi Films’ Elli Toivoniemi (Stupid Young Heart).
  • Prior to the online pitching session, film graduates will benefit from personal pitch coaching from creative consultant Paul Tyler (Handling Ideas) and producer Helene Granqvist (Nordic Factory Film).
  • A Vimeo Showcase of the graduation films from the selected pitchers, will be available to registered participants, ahead of the pitching from film graduates.
  • Networking being a key component of Nordic Talents, young film & TV graduates are invited to take an active part at round tables and short speed-dating meetings with established audiovisual professionals.

Other highlights at Nordic Talents are:

  • The Producers Pitch from 12 selected Nordic producers.
  • A Case-study (TBA)
  • the Nordic Talents Awards Ceremony to be held Thursday September 9.

Former film graduates who attended Nordic talents include Finland’s Juho Kuosmanen (Compartment No 6), competing this year for a Palme d’or at the Cannes Film Festival, Iceland’s Hlynur Pálmason (A White, White Day), Denmark’s May el-Toukhy (Queen of Hearts), Sweden’s Maria Bäck (Psychosis in Stockholm), Norwegian writer Johan Fasting (Home Ground, Ninjababy) and director Erika Calmeyer (Twin, Nudes).
