The session will address three issues:
Key-decision makers invited to deliver their views include:
Special guest and co-moderator Tomas Eskilsson, Head of Strategy at Film i Väst, will give a preview of the study ‘Public Finance at the Crossroads’, based on more than 700 interviews with EU professionals.
The full report will be presented at the European Co-Production Forum (ECPF) in Brussels, March 11.
The session ‘The Future of Nordic Feature Film at a Crossroad’ will be moderated by True Content Entertainment’s Thomas Gammeltoft, who said: “We are living in a time of rapid changes to our industry. How we develop, finance, produce and distribute our feature films is right now undergoing fundamental changes driven by the global players and their “all inclusive” or one stop shop model. We are just in the beginning of this.“
“Covid has catapulted these new trends, and our audience love them. But where does that leave the old model of public funding agencies and broadcasters, which aimed at securing the artistic local voices, cultural specificity and diversity, and on top of that, protected the producers and talents with ownership to our stories. And what kind of stories will it leave us with? Will the stories be more generic as many state, or is there still room for the artistic voices? And where shall we watch the feature films in the future?
For all of us working in the industry these are all quite important issues. This is why we have gathered a panel of important decision makers and industry professionals to get their opinion on what to expect of the future”.
The panel will be closing Nordisk Film & TV Fond’s ‘Audiovisual Collaboration 2021’ initiative, organised in conjunction with the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture under last year’s Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
