Joachim Trier’s romantic drama opened at number 2 in Norway behind No Time to Die and in France, the film had the third best admission average for its opening weekend.

Three months after its successful launch at the Cannes Film Festival where Renate Reinsve was bestowed with a Best Actress award, The Worst Person in the World has screened in 16 international festivals and hit national audiences in France October 13 and in Norway October 15.

In France where Joachim Trier has a strong following among auteur lovers, the film opened at number 5, and after five days the national admissions - including previews - have reached 53,205.

Carried by rave reviews across the board in the French press, the film had the third best per screen average after James Bond’s No Time to Die and the mega big French opener Eiffel. According to distribution outfit Memento, The Worst Person… is expected to climb to over 300,000 ticket sales, which would put it ahead of Trier’s Oslo, August 31st, which ended up with 180,000 admissions in France.

Trier’s modern romcom posted 32,335 admissions from 141 screens in its opening weekend, ahead of the director’s Oslo, August 31st first three days’ 9,892 in 2011.
